They are strong intelligent dogs that have been labeled vicious due to their ancestry of dog fighting and similar activities. The straight front legs should not be long. The head is of medium size with a relatively short muzzle. The ears are usually cropped, yet can be left uncropped. The eyes are always dark and set wide apart.American Staffordshire Terriers have a short coat. It comes in any color except all white. Dogs with more than 80% of white and those with liver, and black and tan coat color are not desirable.
